The Retreat Animal Rescue was founded in 1989. We are home to up to 20 different species of rescued animals at any one time. We are home to the Be Kind Cafe, wildlife hospital, a neutering clinic, a thrift & gift shop, and a plant-based grocery store.

● About

Where Animals Live Free

In our tucked-away corner of Kent, England, animals live out their lives in freedom, happiness, and health.

We rescue animals from dangerous environments — whether they’re found at the side of the road, or in a farm — and we are home to over a thousand residents.

From puppies and kittens to cows, pigs, turkeys… even ferrets! Every animal will find a safe place with us.

We are always looking for more volunteers and supporters. Find out more about how you can get involved below.

Because animals deserve freedom, too.
