Dogs

The Retreat is completely unique in it's dog rehabilitation programme. We call this our "Best Help" basic emotional support and training.

No dog is ever tested on arrival by a quantity control team. They are matched up with some canine friends for moral support. If dogs are unfriendly with others they are simply muzzled and introduced and supported daily until they integrate.

The Retreat has been very successful with anti-social rotties, shepherds, huskies, bull terriers, mastiffs and smaller "problem" dogs like rage spaniels, snappy jack russells, collies and bad tempered bassetts; all eventually turning around to lead happy, supportive new lives.

We believe no dog deserves the death sentence, especially after a few human based silly behaviour tests that determine, on the day of arrival at a dog home, that scared and fearful dogs should be killed!

Given time dogs learn from other dogs. Some may go on to be re-homed and others may live the rest of their lives at the Retreat; only ever having to remember the law of the dog and not the law of the human!
