Financial support
The Retreat relies on the animal-loving public to continue its crucial work. Donations however small (or large!) are always welcome.
All workers at the Retreat are volunteers, therefore any money that is donated or generated through fundraising activities goes towards the animals wellbeing. As with all rescue projects, more money is always needed. The yearly running costs (tens of thousands of pounds) increase with every new animal taken on so we are always looking for new ideas to fundraise.
Expenditure
The Retreat incurs numerous running costs. A few types of expenditure are listed below.
- Food bills
- Vets bills
- Lease of fields for our older horses (this is in addition to our land at the Retreat)
- Straw/Bedding
- Microchipping
- Kennelling
- Farrier bills
- New shelters and Fencing
- Maintenance work
- Crematorium costs
- Horse rugs
- Vehicle costs
- Utility bills
- Public Liability Insurance
This list is by no means exhaustive and other expenses, small and large, occur regularly.
Long term goals
We aim one day to have our own vet on site to provide a low cost neutering service. Additionally we hope to be in a position to purchase more land, which will enable us to help more animals.
